Khava and Masha have been in Poland for several months but have had few opportunities to meet Polish peers outside school. By joining play activities on the Little Refugee Day they made friends with Polish neighbours.
In the Citizens for Democracy programme:
– 33 refugee support initiatives were implemented;
– 11 of them focused on support and integration of children of refugees.
Chava i Masza są w Polsce od kilku miesięcy, ale miały niewiele okazji, by poznać polskich rówieśników poza szkołą. Dzięki wspólnej zabawie podczas Dnia Małego Uchodźcy zaprzyjaźniły się z polskimi sąsiadami.
W programie Obywatele dla Demokracji:
– zrealizowano 33 inicjatywy wsparcia uchodźców,
– 11 z nich dotyczyło wsparcia i integracji dzieci uchodźczych.
Tomek came to the library but did not borrow books or use a computer. He encountered Human Books for the first time ever: a Roma man, a homosexual and a Muslim. The stories he heard encouraged him to learn more about the problem of discrimination in Poland.
In the Citizens for Democracy programme:
– 42 meetings with Human Libraries were held in 40 communities across Poland;
– 59 reports were published that forecast the level and characteristics of discrimination in Poland.
Tomek przyszedł do biblioteki, ale nie wypożyczał książek, nie korzystał też z komputera. Pierwszy raz w życiu spotkał się z „Żywymi Książkami”: Romem, osobą homoseksualną i wyznawczynią islamu. Opowieści tych osób zachęciły go do poznania problemu dyskryminacji w Polsce.
W programie Obywatele dla Demokracji:
– zorganizowano 42 spotkania z „Żywymi Bibliotekami” w 40 miejscowościach w całej Polsce,
– opracowano 59 raportów diagnozujących skalę i specyfikę problemu dyskryminacji w Polsce.
Beata has a small group of pupils in her class who often skip classes. The children do not exhibit playfulness and the class tutor is wondering what might be going on in their homes. Might they be experiencing abuse? How could she help? She does not want to put blame on anyone without evidence. She will use guidelines developed for education professionals to assess the risk of domestic violence. She will consider her options, e.g. she may launch the Blue Card process.
In the Citizens for Democracy programme:
– 24 new methodologies of providing support to individuals vulnerable to exclusion were developed/promoted;
– 7,897 professionals improved their skills in providing support to individuals vulnerable to exclusion.
Beata ma w swojej klasie grupkę dzieci, które często opuszczają lekcje. Nie przejawiają chęci do zabawy. Wychowawczyni zastanawia się, co dzieje się w ich domach. Czy nie doświadczają przemocy? Jak może im pomóc? Nie chce oskarżać nikogo bezpodstawnie, dlatego skorzysta z przygotowanych dla pracowników oświaty wskazówek i oceni ryzyko występowania przemocy w rodzinie. Zastanowi się, co można w tej sprawie zrobić, np. uruchomić procedurę Niebieskiej Karty.
W programie Obywatele dla Demokracji:
– opracowano i/lub upowszechniono 24 nowe metody wsparcia osób narażonych na wykluczenie,
– 7 897 specjalistów podniosło swoje kompetencje w zakresie wsparcia osób narażonych na wykluczenie.
Robert moved from a homeless shelter to a council flat but found it extremely hard to deal with everyday problems. With the help of shelter staff he can now remember to pay his bills regularly and generally take care of himself and his home. He is not threatened by eviction.
In the Citizens for Democracy programme:
– 427 individuals received support in preparation for or to start independent life;
– shelter was provided to 403 individuals.
Robert po przeprowadzce ze schroniska dla bezdomnych do mieszkania socjalnego miał trudności z załatwieniem wielu codziennych spraw. Dzięki pomocy pracowników schroniska pamięta o regularnym płaceniu rachunków, dba o siebie i dom. Nie grozi mu eksmisja.
W programie Obywatele dla Demokracji:
– 427 osób otrzymało wsparcie w samodzielnym życiu lub przygotowaniu do niego,
– zapewniono schronienie 403 osobom.
Jerzy attended a court trial. The judge appeared nearly an hour late for the first hearing and was quite impolite when answering questions. An observer from a non-government organisation was present during the second hearing. The judge’s attitude changed. Moreover, he apologised for his earlier conduct and patiently explained the process and used simple language to clarify the gist of legal provisions.
In the Citizens for Democracy programme:
– observations of 8,226 court trials were made and 827 observations of court infrastructure across Poland;
– 301 representatives of the judiciary and prosecution service attended workshops, conferences and meetings raising their awareness of the needs of people vulnerable to discrimination.
